BIOFLOC Philippines Fishery Inc. Places in the Top 20 of the AIM DOST Agri-Aqua Challenge

On February 10, 2022, the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation (MOU+C) with the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) for the project “DOST-PCAARRD Agri-Aqua Innovation Challenge.”

The Agri-Aqua Innovation Challenge will help qualified professionals and students create new enterprises by offering early capital and expert coaching. Winners of the competition may earn up to P1 million in the professional start-up category, while students may win prizes and obtain up to P400,000 in grants. During a two-day Pitch Feedback Session during June 23-24, 2022, forty companies competed for the 2nd Level of the DOST-PCAARRD Agri-Aqua Innovation Challenge. To proceed in the competition, 20 professional and 20 student teams presented their technology-based agri-businesses to a nine-member panel of judges from DOST-PCAARRD, the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), and the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP).

Biofloc Philippines Fishery, Inc. (BPFI) is led by LITHOS Manufacturing’s president, Engr. Eleanor Olegario and BPFI Founder Celedana T. Santos, together with Mr. Jay P. Nakar and Mr. Jessie Santos successfully land a place in the top 20 Startup Qualifiers. On April 19, 2022, the team attended and participated in the KICK-OFF Session as the commencement of the 8-month mentorship to present their startup innovation proposal on Intensive Aqua Farming utilizing Biofloc Technology. BPFI stands with AIM and DOST-PCAARRD in supporting national development via innovation and technology.
